Christ Community Lutheran School 2017-18 Green Schools Quest

March 11, 2018

Last year, the CCLS Green Team introduced sustainable thought and environmental awareness into the rather antiquated approach on campus, particularly in the cafeteria by offering recycling for the first time ever and encouraging waste reduction on many levels. The Green Team started becoming established last year, and our goal this year, is to further deepen roots for Green Team perpetuation and community outreach with these sustainable efforts.

Through after school meetings, newsletter "green tips", field trips and service projects, the CCLS Green Team hopes to educate our school and surrounding community about four main topics: Composting (adding CCLS's first Worm Bin), Landfill/Recycling (highlighting the term "single use"), Energy & the importance of Pollinators/Native Plants. We will
work with the teaching staff as well as community outreach programs to make these four concepts a strong curriculum for the students, staff and beyond, leaving a lasting impression that will permeate. Our T-shirt theme for this year is "It starts with me. My home. My School. My community. God's Earth." Through this program, children as well as adults, will realize how small changes in daily life habits can affect the entire world. We're REALLY excited!!!!
