LEED Lego

On February 15th, the US Green Building Council Central PA will be educating 5th graders at the Pennsylvania College of Technology about LEED in a fun and exciting way at their science festival. Using pre-built Lego homes participants will be able to add certain features like solar panels, reclaimed brick chimney, compost bins and air filtration systems to the homes to makes the houses more "green". Using a large cardboard map participants choose where to build their homes, be it in a wetland or former brownfield. The houses will be scored based on a LEED for Homes scorecard which will give participant's homes a rating of certified, silver, gold or platinum. Special thanks to our LEED Lego partners, PA Department of Environmental Protection and the Penn College of Technology National Sustainable Structures Center!
