Sustainability Movement - Al Ridwan School

A team of volunteers from Dar Al Handasah - Amman office Joined the Sustainability Movement 2019 Campaign to work on a Sustainability & Environmental awareness project at "Al Ridwan School" . In the preparation for the service day, the team spent plenty of time generating materials and meeting to provide the largest possible impact on the Students. The day of service starts with an interactive presentation covering the main environmental and sustainability opportunities encountered on a daily basis, followed by a hands-on activity to motivate students to become future green leaders

The event was BIG! it started with a Story Telling & Puppet Theatre show for all sections of Grade 3 students , it was THINK GREEN & ACT GREEN. The students then were distributed in to smaller groups to work on three hands on activities focusing on : Energy, Green artwork, Plastic Reuse & planting.
Activity 1: energy conservation at homes, the teams were requested to built up a passive cooling house model with a given budget.
Activity 2: Creating environmental Art painting students, students spend time to think about the environment and to express how they can live in a greener school, drawings & paintings were placed at the school bulletin board
Activity 3: (Planting) Students contributed in planting vegetable seeds in (garbage) plastic cups to write the word "LEED" on the playground floor.
The event ended by a briefing session with a competition & Green Question, student received a certificate for participation for the great involvement and commitment.
